Chinmaya Jyoti is the upcoming Chinmaya Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Studies in Poway. Besides becoming the permanent home for all the activities of Chinmaya Mission San Diego, Chinmaya Jyoti will serve as a pilgrimage center and retreat for all students of Vedanta, and a fitting tribute to our Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati. Chinmaya Jyoti will be a beacon of Spiritual Knowledge for generations to come.
Swami Tejomayananda’s message
"Hari Om! Very hearty congratulations to all the members of Chinmaya Mission San Diego. I am very pleased to know that you will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of the center. The light of spiritual knowledge given by our Pujya Gurudev has reached here and should be kept glowing forever. The new center that will be coming up here in the very near future, we will call it Chinmaya Jyoti. Hari Om!"
That was the message from Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji in a previously recorded segment of a video presentation as CMSD celebrated its fifth anniversary on January 28, 2006 with a gala banquet.
Location
The future site for Chinmaya Jyoti is located on Ninth Street off of Pomerado Rd in Poway behind Pomerado Elementary School. You can find the location on Google Map.
Land
Chinmaya Mission San Diego acquired 8 acres of land for Chinmaya Jyoti in January 2009. Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji named the hill located on the land, Tapovangiri. The slideshow here presents a few views of the Chinmaya Jyoti site
Bhumi Puja for the Chinmaya Jyoti site was performed on June 29, 2009 in the blessed presence of Swami Tejomayananda.
Plans
The preliminary plans for Chinmaya Jyoti were approved by the city of Poway. In a City Council meeting on June 15, 2010, the members of the City Council unanimously voted to approve the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Chinmaya Jyoti.

- A Cultural Center (Samskrti Nilayam) with Bala Vihar classrooms
- A Spiritual Center (Sankara Nilayam) with an auditorium
- An Administration building with a kitchen and dining hall
- An Acharya residence
